Do you have any tips on lighting a kitchen successfully?
Under unit lighting is important and, of course,
a good ambient light under which to work. Downlights and spotlights are
a practical solution and we have a wide variety of styles. Our Tramline
track lighting system is particularly flexible as it allows you to site
the lights wherever you want. Recessed downlighters are another option if you particularly want to use unobtrusive
downlights and reduce glare.
Pendants are not ideal in kitchens as they will inevitably attract
grease and dust over time but a rise and fall pendant is ideal, not
least because it is accessible for a quick swipe with a duster. We have
both contemporary and classic styles of rise and fall lights.
These allow you to create atmosphere as, raised
high, they cast a wide beam so that you can prepare a meal, play games
on the kitchen table
etc., while pulled low over the table, they create atmosphere for dining
or concentrate light to a close range for reading or doing homework
by. Rooms often have to double up in function these days (kitchens have
to be dining rooms and bedrooms have to be offices) so that
flexible
lighting
arrangements are key for making the best
use of
a room. A
rise and fall light is just one way of doing this.
